Editing: 14/12/12

Today I have carried on editing the narrative footage together. I have reached the part of the instrumental where there is the long chase, and I feel that this footage looks great! I have used the animatic as a guide where to put the shots in time to the music, however have changed some clips to fit slightly differently as they need a bit longer or shorter on the screen.

I have left a couple of short gaps in this edit, as they will be spaces for the best performance shots to fit in, they will not be left like this. At the moment I have changed and played around with the lengths of most of the narrative shots and have made them look the best they can, and this means there are a couple of gaps for now.

Editing: 11/12/12 - 13/12/12

11/12/12

Today, Beckie and I decided that I will work on the narrative edit and that she will be working on the performance edit. I had originally mulit clipped all of the performance shots ready to edit however was wiped from the computer when they had new software uploaded. So Beckie is starting this again.
I had to re-upload the narrative footage to begin to work on another computer. I have uploaded the audio track and gone through each of the clips and decided on the best footage possible to start to edit together.

13/12/12

I have now starting editing the first few clips, matching them up with the animatic and making sure all of the shots are in the correct time to the audio track. I have taken the sound off of the clips so that there is no background noise and all I can hear is the track to work with.

Some of the shots have been sped up, for example these 2 shots of the main character. They start at 100% which goes up or down depending on whether I have sped it up or slowed it down. The first one here is a lot faster on 229% and the other on 116%, only a little bit faster.

However this shot has been slowed down as I think it has a better impact when watched slower than it should be.

End Of Module 2 - Self Assessment

These are the tasks which I have done individually all on my own.

In this task Beckie looked up the weather for the day, and I looked at the weather on the actual day of the shoot to see how it would change throughout the day.

In this post I did the writing and Beckie did the collage.

This shows that I have done 65% to the Research and Planning. I need to upload the rest of the tasks which have been done.
Before Beckie left the shoot 2/3rds of the way through I did 90% of the shooting, 40% of the directing and 20% of the lighting. When she did leave I did 100% of everything.

For the Mise-en-Scene, I did 100% of finding the actors, 100% of finding a location, 50% of the costumes and 100% of the props.

I have given myself an A3, which is a low level 4.

Shoot on Saturday 17th November

On Saturday 17th November we filmed our narrative shots of our music video. We all met on time and got to London early in the morning so that we had plenty of time to film. We found a few different locations in which we thought were suitable for our narrative. The whole shoot went really well and we got some excellent footage for our music video.

Photoshoot - Wednesday 14th November

We originally decided to do our band's photoshoot on Monday before we went to the warehouse to film the performance shots. However, do to lighting and technical difficulties we ran out of time and had to be at the warehouse at 5 o'clock, so we thought it would be best to carry it on another day.

So, on Wednesday myself, Scott, Josh and Liam met up in the photography studio to continue with photos. Unfortunately Beckie was unable to attend. We used many different types of lighting and I asked the boys to try different poses to see which ones looked the best.

Overall I got a variety of images which I can choose from when it comes to creating our website and digipak.

This is a collage of some of the photos I took:

Weather Check

We didn't need to do a weather check for Monday when we were filming in the warehouse as we would be inside filming the whole time.
Below is a weather check for London for Saturday 17th.

Although it will be raining, we think that this is fine as we will use the raincoat for the camera and we will make sure that we wear coats and bring umbrellas for ourselves and the actors!

This is the weather for each hour throughout the day of filming:

Rehearsals

We did a rehearsal the day before our shoot in the warehouse.

To make sure that Scott got every single lyric correct, even though he knew them we decided to ask the company director if he would print them off large enough so that Scott could see them from a far distance, for example when they performed up high on the balcony.

Here are some pictures that we took throughout the rehearsal.
